HAVE YOU GOT THE SNIFFLES?

Do you feel like this picture? Read on!

So its finally got you! You've been on the cusp for a couple of weeks and the dreaded head cold has caught up with you!

Now don’t stress…we will have you back on your feet at no time!

Vitamin C:

If you have some at home get stuck into them! You need to be having a lot though, none of this one a day business! I want you to take the equivalent of 3,000 mg, at least!

Water:

Increase that water, now. Aim for 2-3L a day when you're ill. Having it through herbal teas count so boil that kettle and crack out your favourite blend. Don’t have a favourite blend..well read on and I have the perfect teas to help fight that cold of yours!

Herbal teas:

These are just a few teas to sip on while you've got that cold

Calendula: lymphatic cleanser and antimicrobial

Liquorice: soothing for a sore throat and anti-inflammatory, also relieves coughs

Fennel: loosens mucous, allowing it to drain

Ginger: anti-inflammatory and also loosens mucous, allowing it to drain

Rest:

The dreaded, I know. Especially if you are crazy busy with a million and one things on the go…you don't have time to be sick! But because you are so busy, it is so important to listen to this message from our bodies. Our bodies are making us rest, giving us an excuse as to why we cant do things, so embrace it! It may only last for a day and you'll be back on your feet but it is important to take this time. A couple of days off your feet will make sure your body has repaired and can power on through the rest of winter, otherwise we run the risk of being sick a lot over the next few months and who has the time for that?

Eat wholesome good food:

Bone broths, chicken soups, porridge…all of the hearty winter food serves us so well when we are struck down. These foods are nourishing and nutrient dense, allowing or bodies to take what they need from these foods, and help our bodies repair.

Avoid the processed, fried, sugary foods, these foods dampen our immune system and will prolong the illness.

I also outlined all of the immune boosting foods in my previous blog post. Click here to read more.
